As one of the projects of Medina Fez, funded through a grant from “Millennium Challenge Corporation” (MCC) and intended to revive the craft, the reconstruction of Lalla Yeddouna square, a strategic space, with an area of 7,000 m², which connects Adouat al-Qaraouiyyine to Adouat al-Andalous.

Involving a budget of MMAD 330, the project includes the rehabilitation of 11 historical buildings, the renovation of 8 non-architectural buildings, the restoration of a historical bridge and the development of the river and outdoor spaces. This project is carried out in a joint partnership between the Moroccan Government, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Department of Handicrafts, the Local Authorities of Fez and ADER-Fez.

Objective: Boost economic growth through the upgrading of heritage by targeting handicraft, tourism and entertainment sectors:

  • Rehabilitation of 11 historic buildings,
  • Renovation of 8 buildings,
  • Restoration of the historic bridge and development of the river and outdoor spaces.
